Good evening everyone...
The picture title says it all. I found this little dinner party in my backyard. I was alerted by the squirrels. They were having a real fit!! I looked where they were looking, saw the snakes and ran for my camera. My heart was pumping!! AFter getting a few shots, I decided to remove the snake from the yard. I don't have anything against snakes, but I would have a heart attack if I tripped over this guy in the night. We caught him and took him for a nice car ride to the country. I'm sure he is happy. I can not say the same for his dinner partner. He immediately spit out his lunch when he realized we were going to catch him. The little fellow was already gone to snake heaven.

Thanks for looking at my picture. If anyone has any ideas about the type of snake, please feel free to comment. Have a great weekend.

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Hi Kathy,
What backyard drama! You did really well for somebody with a huge shot of adrenaline. : )
Under the circumstances you managed an excellent POV, a sharp focus, and excellent exposure.
TFS this very exciting scene. : )

Hi Kathy,
Your backyard is a "surprising" place! Strong and interesting moment you have captured! Someone may run away instead of take a shot! Good job!
TFS, José M.

hi Kathy,

awesome moment and picture, lucky you.
TFS,
cosmln

That looks like a Black Racer (Coluber constrictor constrictor). These guys will eat just about anything they can get their mouth around, especially rodents. They make good exterminators. TFS :)

Nice capture. Interesting scene.
A little nit is the composition. lifting the camera a little would have remove irrevelent space at the bottom and allowed the tail to be in.
Getting closer to the ground would have given a better POV (and made the tail easier to include)
Very interesting pic anyway. TFS.

The black snake looks deadly to me.
Very good image quality.
TFS and take care.

Oh, my gosh! What a great capture! I'd have found it hard to shoot with my back turned running for high ground. :)) Fantastic shot. TFS.... You're a brave lady... Shelly

Hi Kathy

What a great scene you have captured here.
Poor snake, he must have worked really hard to catch his lunch and then he ended up spitting it out.
I am sure that he is enjoying his new home, its good that you took the time to relocate him properly.
A lot of people would have run a mile to get away from him.
Well done and thanks very much for sharing the photo.

Regards

Roy

Very belated reply....
Kathy, I don't know if you will even see this reply, but your snake is a Black Racer (Coluber constrictor) as Animal Explorer pointed out. The prey item, however, is not a snake at all, but a Legless Lizard or Glass Lizard.
