Tech notes: 300mm with Sigma 2x extender, ISO 100, manual focus, cropped and processed with gusto.
I haven't found this fellow in my books yet, he's not very large and rather funny looking- someone will no doubt tell me, if I can't find him. Idaho, Rocky Mountains, 4500 feet elevation.
(Probably as common as an old shoe).

Female House Finch? have you seen any with slight pink? males. The house finch have the brown as you see on the belly, the purple finch does not. Excelent capture, well done. How bout' a side shot next. Then I'll be able to give you the correct absolute answer, now that I have the front view.
Mike
The female purple finch is heavily streaked with brown like this one. I need the side view. The two females are similar, I need to see if there is an eye band or not.
So, who exactly is peeking around the corner? DoF excellent. More of the bird would have been nice but a good image all the same. TFS

The bird is great but the support isn't really nice.
TFS.
I love it! He is quite roguish with his eye :-))))
