Hello Everyone.

I have barely had time to look at TN in the last 3 days. Just a post or 2. I hope to catch up with the photos tomorrow.

I do try to exclude any man made structures from my TN photos, but wanted to share this little guy with you. Hope it is OK. He lives in my backyard and comes to the feeder regularly. He happened to be eating when a large clap of thunder sounded and he jumped right in the feeder and let the lid close. In a second, he looked out and seemed to be thinking "Whoa that was close!!". But you will notice, he never dropped his kernel of corn :-) Such a cutie.

The gray squirrel is a common inhabitant of most areas of North Carolina from "the swamps of eastern North Carolina to the upland hardwood forests of the piedmont and western counties." He feels more at home in an "untouched wilderness" environment, although many squirrels inhabit our city parks and suburbs. During the fall and winter months the gray squirrel survives on a diet of hardwoods, with acorns providing carbohydrates and proteins. In the spring and summer, their diet consists of "new growth and fruits" supplemented by early corn, peanuts, and insects.

Reminds me of 'Scrat' from the movie Ice Age! Very cute.

La photo est très amusante. On a vraiment l'impression que ce petit animal soulève ce chapeau de pierre avec sa tête.
Well done,Kathy!
Best regards
JJ

hello Kathy,
well done to catch this funny shot.I smiled at this and at your intro too. You are keen but green...just like me. I am forever taking pictures and scattering them over the three sites, treknature, lens and earth. One day i will calm down and take some "considered" shots and gain better points! But meanwhile I'm having fun.#
best wishes
Bev

This is hugely amusing, Kathy -- a really superb shot with a great story to go along with it. You have a great sense of timing. Superb POV, dof, and composition: a really perfect capture! A++

The nose is a little soft, but it doesn't matter much as the expression and situation are so great.
I don't mind the human made structure, as it is a wild animal (I dislike more portrait of caged animals even though the cage is not to be seen).

Hi Kathy,
wonderful shot. Love the timing on this one, very funny pose. POV, colors and composition are nice.

This is great, made me laugh. Squirrels may be irritating when they get into the bird feeders and the attic, but they certainly can be entertaining. This captures their nature quite well, and the inlcusion of the man-made structure only increases the effect of the image. Nice work.
