[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm in a need of ID again. I thought this was an American Hover Fly till I started searching the web for some description and in all the pictures shown there the fly was slightly diferrent from mine. I hope this time someone will help to clarify the issue, too. Thanks to other TN members ("arfer" - http://www.treknature.com/members/arfer/ and "romuszka" - http://www.treknature.com/members/romuszka/) I know what is the name of the butterfly I previously posted not only in English and Latin but in my mother tongue as well. Shot handheld with flash, 75% crop, the rest original.

This is amazing!!!! Good exposure and sharp. I like the dark bg because it gives contrast. You are working wonders with that lens...

hi Mark,
I don't know the ID of this insect, but I know that this is a nice close up picture. Sharp with nice details. Nicely captured. Great shot.

I'm not sure what it is either but you sure did a great job getting a photo of it. Great detail here particularly in the body.

Hello Mark,
Excellent shot with all details to see. POV and composition are great. Well done.

Hi It's a female Sphaerophoria sp. (Syrphidae)
I am not familiar with the American species, and I notice that even the specialists on Bugguide do not as a rule suggest a species for the pictures of this genus.
Nice picture, well composed.
