I was trying to sneak out onto my deck to take a shot of a huge Rooster Ring Neck Pheasant- not to be, he eluded me. But I noticed these birds (2) hunkered down in the snow. I have a frontal shot of the other one, this one turned out fairly sharp considering I was manually focusing and shaking- cold.
I always thought these birds migrated south but I guess I was wrong. This is the first time I've noticed them in the winter- 0 F tomorrow night. Now I'll have to feed for sure- and stalk the pheasant.

This shooting birds is getting time consuming, to say the least. That's fine with me.

J.J. interesting to see a western meadowlark up there. I always thought the same about them migrating further south. Well done.
get that Cock, I'll be waiting in the shadows and when I see it, I'll dive down on it and clasp my claws on it and have it for dinner.

This is a very nice composition and setting. It looks very cold as well.
