[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
They breed in still ponds and sheltered lakes. After the male has attached itself to the female they mate on a perch and remain conjoined as they fly off and hover over the water. The male dips down to allow the female to deposit the eggs below the surface. The larvae live around the marginal vegetation feeding on tiny water creatures and remain in the water for a year

Hello Cecilia, this is a very good photo, lovely lighting, maybe a little more DOF would be good.

Is this a dead specimen?

Hello Cecilia,
Great sharpness, exposure, and color, with this BG working very well..I like the level of detail I see within your DOF (especially the head & wings), with those parasitic mites adding interest also.
Very well done.

Exceptional shot! Very tough to catch these little buggers in mid-flight! You have obtained such clarity and color. Great background also! I agree with the others, to a point, that a little more DOF would be nice, but not necessary. Very well done and TFS!

Jeremiah

Hi Cecilia!
How the heck did you pull this one off? Judging from the narrow DOF the wings seem to be paralel to the camera sensor plane. I'm not a big wildlife watcher but this seems to be hardly natural. Is it really a dead guy? I love the contrasty background, absolutely correct exposure, spot on focus and razor sharp veins in the wings. Congratulations,
Mark

Hi Cecilia,
Very unique shot on this dragonfly. The detail is amazing!
Great clean backround really brings out the colors and detail. Very well done!
Scott

An incredible shot, superb detail although I agree there could have been more dof.
The bg is stunning.
I just hope no damage was left to the wing :-(

Thanks for sharing.

WOW what a macro how did you do it? never mind the species tell us more about technique. Amazing detail, I could look at it all day.

I love the perspective on this one, the soft green background really brings the subject out nicely. I too would've like to seen more DOF. :)
