Western Cottontail Rabbit
A small wild rabbit that was a vital source of food for Native Americans and the first non-NA settlers to the west. This particular bunny has been here for some time, I haven't a clue as to how it survives the predators. It eats the frozen grass you see here, shrubs (darn rabbit), and even some of the pellets I put out for it (I have a selfish motive- don't eat my shubbery). I had the opportunity to see this rabbit and a squirrel do a rather neat thing a year ago- the squirrel came down an upright support (4x4 lumber) in my carport- the rabbit came from under the lilacs and reached up- they touched noses- studied each other for 10 seconds- then went on their ways. Of course I didn't have a camera- funny you should ask. (LOL)
As for this shot- just a hurried shot in the early morning, not what I would call sharp but does a fair job of showing the little critter (barefoot at 5 F on concrete steps tends to set the tone for the shot).

Nice shot of this rabbit he looks like he might be cold at 5 F. the little bit of snow I think give a little contrast to the rabbit and grass.
Just a little tip I heard to keep them from eating your flower bed is spraying WD-40 around them I guess they can't stand the smell of it.

Nice one JJ, the only thing missing from this prefect image is the highlight in the eye, the rest is very well captured even the snow has detail against the darkness of the fur.
They recon Lion Dung works well against the buck teethed critters not that your likely to have that available ;0))))#, there is also an artifical fox scent called renadine which you spray over the plants you most value , its surrposed to work against deer also.
