[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It's been cold and dry in Colorado, so it felt FANTASTIC to spend time inside the Denver Butterfly Pavilion with my camera today... tropical, warm and misty!

This is an Owl Butterfly. The underside (pictured) contains many eyespots to deflect bird predators from piercing the butterflies' body, or as a startle response generator. The top is shades of brown and blue.

I found many of the owl butterflies feeding on bananas, or perched on vertical surfaces, such as this mossy tree trunk. They seemed to be the most likely to stay in one place for awhile, hence the easiest species for me to photograph.

Photo: No tripod (handheld), cropped, levels, USM, Neat Image (was some noise in background).

WOW, how beautiful caption. I like details on the wings. Good composition, POV, sharpness and DOF. You wrote good note. Very nice shot.

Very good details, colours,POV and DOF.
Well done.

Just perfect! Wonderful idea, good details. Nice shot!

Nice shot, but too saturate.

Jennifer, Very nice capture with good details. I must agree with Phiilip that it appears a bit over-saturated. Overall a great post!

Well done on this capture, Jennifer. This is a beautiful butterfly. TFS.

The colors here is stunning and the sharpness very good. The only suggestion from my side is to try and include the whole leg and antennae.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Very nice macro shot, Jennifer. The details are very sharp. My only nit is that the crop is a bit tight. Great shot!
