Excelent image! Mine did not have this cool of composition. I don't know what's up with the 1/6th of a second exposure but maybe you were using your cable release and it was stuck between two common exposure times.
The detail here is simply amazing.
RAW certainly added a great amount of detail to this shot. Looks like your gettting the hang of Neat Image!

Two days ago I saw one japaneese movies about Godzilla. Well, when I was child I thought these movies are great ;-) Your picture reminds me small, resting Godzilla. Very nice colours, details of scales and first of all face with watching you eye. Fantastic animal. And great post my friend :-)

Hi Scott,
I said to Dean (Dando) today in a critique that Lizards, Snakes and Skinks are perfect subjects when the focus and detail are this good. It really provides so much to look at and can be quite striking. The eye contact is excellent, and quite funny too, just watching you :-) Excellent exposure and great DOF. A nice tight crop too which I always like, really a great shot.

PS I think I might have to skip the Polar Bears, I found a couple of places where a day-trip out from Anchorage is more than 2000 dollars!! I'm currently planning Brown Bears and Bald Eagles for next year, still in Alaska though.

Simple picture but sometimes preparation is a lot of work. I wonder if it was behind glass...I wanted to photograph similar species in a zoo but the glass and light available were really 4x*:-).

Stellar, Scott. Great tight shot with good lighting in the final product (despite the low light there). I think it would have still been good with his eyes closed, but with them open you have a classic!
