Juvenile Sunflower star - this creature was about one inch across - and had 14 legs. Adults will often have up to 24 legs and grow to be larger than a dinner plate in diameter. This little guy's got a long way to go. Found at Glass Beach in Fort Bragg last night, October 27th.

While not the best shot, this one at least shows its many legs. Most of my shots of this small critter were rather blurry, this one too. I adjusted in PhotoShop for brightness and contrast, then sharpened the edges just a bit for clarity.
