House Sparrow
(Passer domesticus)

Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Passiformes
Family: Emberizidae
Genus: Aimophila
Species: A. quinquestriata

One hundred House Sparrows were introduced into Brooklyn in the fall of 1851 and the spring of 1852. From this initial introduction, the species expanded throughout the eastern United States and Canada. Aided by transplants from established populations and additional introductions from Europe, the species now ranges from central and northeastern British Columbia to the James Bay and south to Panama.
All of them are primarily seed-eaters, though they also consume small insects. A few species scavenge for food around cities, and like gulls or pigeons will happily eat virtually anything in small quantities.

I HOPE YOU LIKE IT.

Hello Jorge,
This is simply wonderful! We do have many House Sparrows here also and I always hesitate to publish them as I think they are so common all around the world. As it is for this one, you captured a so nice pose that it worth it! I like this POV, composition and the pose of the bird very much. You caught excellent details in a very nice composition with great colors! Well done!
Claudine

Hello Jorge,
great composition using the diagonal.Good sharpness and I like how you have managed to capture the sparrow stripping the seeds. Is this Pampas grass? I have a plant in my garden that is loved by the sparrows. Unfortunately they will not stay still long enough for me to get a good shot. I will try harder next summer as your picture has inspired me.
well done
Bev

Hello Jorge

This is a nice capture of this feeding house sparrow. The bend to the grass and the seeds in the beak give a motion to the shot.It is nicely composed in the frame, and the bird looks very nice against the lovely BG. TFS
