Hi Erica, this is excellent detail of this heron. The hackles on his neck and the lanceolate plumes on the back show up very well. You've composed it very well. He looks impatient waiting for that fish.

The Blue Heron is one of my favorite birds. Such an elegant pose he's giving you. Nice detail, sharp vivid colours and such a nice large shot. What program or programs do you use before you upload your photos?

Hi Erica,

Beautiful portrait of one of my favorite birds. You got the exposure, color, and focus just right, but what really makes the shot is the composition. The negative space on the right side would have been cropped off by many. I'm glad that you kept it.

Excellent shot on this Great Blue Heron. The composition and framing on the shot are perfect. The light here, in what appears to be slightly overcast skies, allows for great color saturation. Tack sharp detail in the plumage. This looks great!

I think this guy missed the fish probably because he was dozing off and my grey heron caught if right in front of his nose. If you snooze you loose, as they say (chuckle).

You really captured this bird with exquisite results. The details are absolutely amazing and sharp as razor blades. Well defined colours give extra oomph to the shot and the dark-green colour of the water provides an excellent BG which compliments the heron and makes it stand out from the frame. The exposure was spot-on and the composition is very well laid out. I know this is probably a bit of nit picking, but the only small flaw I would address is the slight noise on the waters’ surface and this was more than likely the result of the ISO320 selection. It is no big deal though as it could be easily rectified with a noise reduction filter.
