[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Cecropia V:
This is the last of the Cecropia (Saturniidae; Hyalophora cecropia; Cecropia moth) series, the shots were taken in Bryan/Texas. The adult male moth is emerging from the pupal cuticle, metamorphosis achieved.

The animal was raised in a cage, the pupa freed from it's silk cocoon. I used a bellow, a tripod and a flash from the side as well as a reflector on the other side. The slide has been scanned. With PS the supporting stick for the pupa was removed to make the animal seem to hover. The background was desaturized, the pic slightly sharpened.

Another very interesting picture. As always also this time it has a educational value, even if (just like cataclysta said) the noise reduction would be nice :)
Anyway, how did you take this picture? Does this pupa lie on the blue BG or not?

Wieder etwas ganz Spezielles. Diese schwebende Ungetüm bevor es sich zum schönsten Schmetterling entwickelt.. Einmalige Aufnahme. Habe noch nie eine solche gesehen.Deine ganze Serie wäre etwas für den Schulunterricht.
