This Little Girl Again?
Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus)
The question mark is because I'm not positive if the Optimism in the Pines was a female since the head was raised, but I think it was. Also, this one is definitely a girl! You can tell because the head is not solid red.
The title is for Claudine. I thought for sure I had a good shot of the whole body in a verticle alignment, but this was the only verticle alignment I found...;-( I do have some shots of the whole body I'll post soon. Just not in vertical alignment...;-( I do try to shoot that way some...

Hi Dave,
Though this is a fine and well composed sharp shot of a female Red-bellied Woodpecker, it would have been even better if you were lucky enough to have had a more contrasting BG.

When I looked at this capture the first thing that came to me was a calm feeling, and I think the common background color did it for me. The composition and details are great, I like this posting alot thanks Dave.

this is good looking photo of the woodpecker,I just wish you haven't covered it up in that gray mask that you used because it makes the image look ashen and muted in colour. bob
