[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Everglade City, end of afternoon, the sky is speckled with Turkey voltures taking advantage of the last thermals of the day.

Here is the description for the Cornell Bird Guide:
Although it has an ugly, bare-skinned face, the Turkey Vulture is beautiful on the wing. Seldom does this graceful and talented bird flap its wings as it soars over large areas searching for carrion.

Description
top
Large soaring bird.
Long wings and tail.
Body feathers entirely blackish-brown.
Red head mostly unfeathered.

Size: 64-81 cm (25-32 in)
Wingspan: 170-178 cm (67-70 in)
Weight: 2000 g (70.6 ounces)

Technicalities:
This is take at 300mm, hand held, while the bird was flying above me. I am pretty happy with it although technically, I could have made good use of a tripod.

The end of the afternoon light did not allow me to go much faster...

With PS I sharpenned with USM (200, 1, 2) and corrected the light sligthly. Resized, signed and saved.

WOW!

Nah, taken by hand is alot better when photographing subjects in motion.
Just your speed though, I wonder if you could have gone higher on your speed.
Excelent work, well done on this capture.

Genevieve, these captures are very difficult. You did great here. Nice contrast and composition.

I added your picture to a theme I've created.

Nice shot, but focus a bit soft. Good forms on its wings.
Well done.
TFS.

Hi Genevieve
Sorry I owe so long! Nice TV this, great spred of eing, good ecposure too on the plumage.
You can use some selective sharpening on the head for a bit more detail. TFS
