[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
First of all, thank you for the kind notes regarding my accident. I suffered a moderate concussion - not (for once) related to photography. Today, for the first time since Saturday, I was able to go out - not for long periods of time, but at least I'm feeling a little more like myself.

Now, to this little fellow - the first thing I noticed was nuts on the run. This squirrel was across the lawn, and was rather startled to see me. It probably feared I wanted the peanut (I didn't), but like me, this squirrel is nutty for nuts, though my taste is far more expensive than the garden variety unsalted peanuts.

To offset the bright light, I lowered the exposure by two stops.

Once this nutty squirrel got to a safe perch, it proceeded to scream obscenties (or so I assume) at me in between bites. Whatever have I done to these poor creatures except feed them healthy food and capture their most humilating moments?

Also like me, this squirrel has a big mouth, even if it is stuffed...

Hi Kathy.

Cheers Rick :)

Pat

Hello Kathy,

Fabulous details of this cheeky squirrel! The colours and texture of his fur are spot on!
You did control the light very well!

The composition would have been even better if the space into which he is moving had been greater than that behind him. (I do hope that makes sense!)

I just have the feeling that, maybe, this little guy will be more appreciative of your endeavours when you start sharing your expensive nuts with him!!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hallo Kathy
I am glad to see you made a posting. This is proof that the nasty accident you had did not take away the will power and the photography bug to persue not matter what. When I read on the forum about your accident, for a moment I saw a very comical scene in my minds eye. You lying on the ground next to your motorbike, camera in the air trying to protect it from damage. Sorry for that but what I have learn't from your notes you are one of those go-getters that carry your camera with you everywhere should the oppertunity arise for the ideal shot. No all jokes aside. I am very glad to hear that you are doing ok. Your image of this big eyed peanut eating squirrel is great and made me feel cheerful. You have captured it in a great full frontal pose and the details of this little guy are diplayed well. I just love the big oval shaped eyes and the rust brown patches on the legs just above the paws. A very cute image which deserves a lot of oh's and ah's and of course a huge smiley. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Great low POV, DOF, and detail, love the comical look Kathy.
Nice color and exposure also.
Good to hear you're feeling better, you must be more careful!
Head injuries can be quite serious, I'm sure you know..
Well done & have a nice weekend,
Howard

Now that is what I call a real mouthful!! Great photo with excellent clarity and color.Love the pose you managed to capture.
He probably wasn't actually hollering at you, he was just calling out his next choice on the menu. He thinks you are his personal waitress. TFS.

Like me, too, stuffed mouth but big mouth! Thanks for the nice dedication, Kathy, I am so glad to see this little fellow managing to get away with its prize! He is getting fat for the winter to come and I think you thought fast to underexpose, it is perfect! I never think about doing that and it sure worked for you. The picture is bright yet saturated and the little devil is showing up with much details and... it is cuuute! Thanks again, very very touching,

Francine

Hi, Kathy,

many thanks for your wonderful comments and encouragement!! though i have been enjoying photo-taking since childhood, i am only taking the baby-step in photography (the digital photography).

I'm now in the final year study of medicine...so hopefully can pass all the exams by Feb/March next year, and then I will begin the tough yet wonderful adventure of real doctoring : ) and taking photos from time to time is a form of relaxation to me, amidst the tight study schedule.

btw, you are very talented indeed. from your description, you have started photography from scratch by self-learning!! I love your photos, too, b'cos they are very natural and peaceful : )) e.g. this little squirrel is really lovely and beautifully photographed!!

I have added you to my favourite list, too!!

I am really glad to know you and others at TN site - all of you are great, helpful and encouraging mentors : ))

okie, it's time to resume my revision for a clinical exam few days later.

have a great Sunday!!

chrs,
Man Yee
