Wallace Stegner once described Utah as "The land of the stunned imagination". One cannot argue with that.
................................................................................................................
Kodachrome Basin is a small, popular state park situated a few miles south of UT 12 due east of Bryce Canyon, and reached by a paved road. The park contains eroded, multicolored rock formations in various shades of red, yellow, pink, white and brown; together with the (usually) deep blue sky and occasional green vegetation this combination led the National Geographical Society to name the area, with the consent of the Kodak Film Corp. The one unique feature of the park is the presence of many spires or 'chimneys' of rock, known as sand pipes, which are thought to be solidified sediment that filled ancient springs or geysers, left standing after the softer surrounding Entrada sandstone rock weathered away.

Hi Evelynn. This looks an amazing place almost unreal . It wood make a good film set. You have captured the different colours in the rocks against the deep blue sky so well. I like the odd cloud it helps to make this first class. well done TFS.
Nick..

Hi Evelynn,
This landscape looks just amazing. Well composed picture showing this beautiful view with very contrasting but natural bright colours and good DOF.

Hello Evelynn,
It certainly isn't the graph of the crude oil prices:-).
Besides these are the kind of chimneys we like to see.
Have you read Wallace Stegner's books?
Beautiful image and it isn't the kind of content we expect to see from you. However...
Good work!
Well done
TFS

Ciao Evelynn,
bellissima immagine di queste spettacolari montagne, fantastici i colori delle rocce esaltati dal cielo azzurro, ottime nitidezza e luminosità.

Hi Evelynn

Indeed a place of rare beauty! It should definitely be presented more here on TN :) Hope you can do the job ;)

This is a lovely photo, with an excellent composition: 1/3 lines are clear in every sector of the frame and the positioning of the elemets is very nicely done.
The colors are also lovely - well saturated thanks to a spot-on exposure, while the natural contrast attracts even more to the scene.
Very nicely taken.

Bravo and TFS

A wonderful variety in landscape. Great natural lighting eh? What more can one expect from this type of land and at this wonderful time in which you took the picture. A fine example of a grand landscape!

Dear Evelynn,
Candid shot of Kodachrome Basin's geological sandstone cross sectional multicolored canyons, chimneys & cliffs showing various land events including unique pattern wind & rain causing erosion on the time axis of GTS (Geological Time Scale)! TFS.

Beautiful scene Evelynn,
Good exposure, very sharp with wonderful contrasting colors.
Looks just the way I remember it. Rosie and I were there a few years ago. I'm sure you will agree that Bryce Canyon is a special place to visit. The colors and textures of the rock formations are unbelievable.

indeed beyond imagination, it is almost like a painting, TFS Ori

Hello Evelynn,
thank you for sharing such spectacular landscape in a best pov to show how mighty it is!
the colour is real nice here with wonderful details!
well done and TFS
take care and sincere regards
Tony

Hi Evelynn,
This is a real spectacular photo. The warm tones and jagged edges of the peaks against the cool blue sky are fantastic. I haven't see that kind of clarity for a long time. Although this looks like a warm and sunny day, something tells me that it might have been pretty cold.
The balance in the photo by the fluffy cloud is well seen. That one white rock on the left is a bit distracting.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Evelynn,
Beautiful landscape well composed photo, I like the blue sky with a single cloud
Well done

Hi Evelynn!

10 years have passed... Together with my family and our friends we also stopped at Kodachrome Basin. Your picture remembered me of my old "Kodachrome" slides. I looked at them and even scned some...

The place is magical and the colours are superb. You present us this special spot in a beautiful manner.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Evelynn

Hi Evelynn,
A stunning shor and what a beautiful place to be in. Magnificent view and the rock surface looks so colours and detailed. The blue sky adds a fine tone and I like your POV to portray this out-of-the-world scenery. Great effort and thanks for sharing this picture.

Hi Evelynn

Great shot with lovely colours. The scudding cloud makes a great addition to the composition. Ths source you mention has definitely got the method of formation wrong. This chimney is all one piece not a later infill - you can tell because of the layers in the rock. This is really a giant hoodoo - the harder cap protecting the rocks below from the elements.

James

Hi Evelyn,

Another of your fantastic landscapes. I can just see the coyote and roadrunner of the cartoons running around here. :-) Is this where they would be? Fantastic composition!

Jan-Hendrik

Hello Evelynn!
You are right, the shape of this rocks are beyong imagination! Fantastic final of water and wind effects! And more over that colours add even more good feelings :)
Very nice and interesting picture!
TFS and best regards,

Hello Evelynn,
Wow, this looks like a view from another planet! :-) Fantastic capture of these impressive rocks in lovely colours that go so well with the blue sky. I like the POV and the little clouds in the sky too.
Well done and very interesting. Ulla

Good morning.
A photo very well managed. The composition is excellent as the saturated color. This site seems splendid! What I like also your photo is a small cloud lost to the right ... it seems so alone! ;o)
