[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Since we adopted our little dog, Toupti, I walk every day with him and most of the time, I bring the camera with me, either the DSLR or the compact. I take many picture every day because even here, in the village where I live, there are fields and trees, filled with many wild flowers. In fact, I am amazed to find all those species in such a small place, the trails that I use every day. I have witnessed the transformation of the plants, from the leaves to the flowers to the seeds. I have witnessed their cycles, the blooming time of the dandelions, the everlasting peas, the soapworts and the golden rods.

There is a place where I walk where there is a small swamp with a stream. There grow all kind of plants, there are many birds and cattails, I just love it. On a small slope, there are ferns, I think they are Bracken Fern (please correct the ID if I'm wrong), "fougère-aigle".

At this time of the year, the most stunning and fantastic phenomenon happens, the change of colours, of shape, just before winter. The colours in the fields are amazing, going from deep brown to copper, to gold, to sienna and almost a deep purple at times. The plants dry out because of the cold, leaving stems of brown dried out plants with the seeds and pods.

These beautiful ferns grow in colonies, I would say, and are dotted with dried out and seedy asters, many species, and some golden rods, dried out as well. I took many pictures there and I am planning to go back and make a real photo session. I am exalted by the beauty of the dryness, the transformation taking place right in front of my eyes.

This picture is a close-up of the fern, with its colour shining aloud just before it dies. The flames before doing so remind me of the spur of energy the dying person often experiment just before dying. Life is such and witnessing its magnificence and its decay fills me with so many thoughts.

Tres belle photo.

Hi Francine
Autumn has to be one of the most colourful times of the year. The coppery-orange colour of these ferns are so rich and brilliant. A nice perspective full of different textures, lines and shadows.

A beautiful shot, with a very apt title, dear Francine!
As usual, your note is as interesting, if not more, as the shot itself.
Very well done, my friend!

Bonjour Francine!

Markus
