Mt. Silverheels
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Mt. Silverheels is the mountain in the background it is at an elevation of 13820 feet(4226 meters). Taken along Boreas pass road near Breckenridge, Colorado. Boreas Pass used to be a railroad bed, but in the 1940's was converted to an auto road, unpaved of course but it is well maintained, unlike many of Colorado's mountain roads, passenger cars are able to do this road. Mt. Silverheels is one of the furthest west mountains of Colorado's Front Range Mountains, which is Colorados eastern most mountain range, the peaks along the front range are very high but generally are not very rugged and are by the most part easy climbs being just walk ups with only the occasional peak that is considered difficult, like Longs Peak mentioned in the prior posts.
As you can tell Silverheels doesn't look like much but is still a high peak. I went to Boreas pass mostly for the fall colors, Boreas Pass is famous in the front range for having spectacular fall colors and is a very popular place for "leaf Peepers" or people who of course travel to the mountains to see the changing leaves. I was there to photograph them.
This scene is near the top of Boreas Pass on the eastern side just a couple miles from the summit, you are getting close to tree line in this photo, but you can see some of the Aspens in their fall colors on the bottom of the photo |

Another beautiful shot Paul,
You really have a good eye for composing great landscape images. Love the contrasting colors and the diagonal lines. Well done!! TFS.
