hello friends, today too i am coming with a in-flight shot,
it is not the best in-flight shot, but because i love
to do this kind of shots i decided to post it

just tell that it is shot with a very very small
3X zoom digital point & shoot camera, and that
Eastern Kingbird in-flight's moment it is what i did,
pointed the camera, focus and shoot the image

from All About Birds website
here is some notes on the Eastern Kingbird :

http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Eastern_Kingbird.html

« The Eastern Kingbird is highly aggressive toward
nest predators and larger birds. Hawks and crows
are attacked regularly. A kingbird was observed to knock
a Blue Jay out of a tree and cause it to hide under
bush to escape the attack.

During the summer the Eastern Kingbird eats mostly
flying insects and maintains a breeding territory that
it defends vigorously against all other kingbirds. In the
winter along the Amazon, however, it has a completely
different lifestyle: it travels in flocks and eats fruit.

Parent Eastern Kingbirds feed their young for about
seven weeks. Because of this relatively long period
of dependence, a pair generally raises only one brood
of young per nesting season. »

Merci

Asbed

I know how hard it is to post a shot you already know is as good as you would like it...but sometimes it is important for other reasons....in this case you said it well...it is what you enjoy and you do it well...in flight is an experience which in most cases you would do better than me....I do have a few list this but didn't post them...not sure why..maybe afraid others would criticize...but I know you via the net and I know how much you love nature and love to share...so it is worth at least 2 points just for that alone!

Hi Asbed,

This is hard to do with any camera.
Unfortunately your shutter speed was to long to freeze the movement. A very good try.

Regards, Mario

Hello Asbed,
Because you loved it! And that's why this picture is special,
no matter how good or bad our pictures are, what it matters is
that we love to do this and we wanna show the world how much
we love to do this.. Great one my friend..

Everton

Ciao Asbed,
l'immagine non è tecnicamente perfetta, ma hai colto sensazioni ed emozioni, per un fotografo è più bello ed emozionante il momento dello scatto che non il risultato, perchè è in quel momento che stabilisce il contatto con il suo soggetto.
TFS.

Hello Asbed,
In-flight photos of relatively small birds like this Eastern Kingbird are difficult enough with SLR's and telephotos, so I think you did a good job with your point and shoot. Maybe you could have increased the shutterspeed but we don't often have time to think about that. Even so, you can tell that this is a kingbird, a species that I have seen when I was in Canada years ago. The POV and composition are great.
TFS and have a good weekend,
Ivan

Hi Asbed,
A lovely shot of this Eastern Kingbird in-flight with nice POV/DOF and framing. I liked it.
Have a nice weekend my friend!
TFS and cheers,

Hello Asbed,
I fully understand your desire to capture birds in flight however difficult it is! Even though this is not quite sharp the moment you captured is excellent - the wings are spread beautifully and those who know the species would surely easily recognise it. Nice light and well composed too. A good try!!
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hi Asbed,

I love your passion and the way you express it in both your pictures and your words. You captured this Kingbird in a perfect position - your timing could not have been better. The wings are wonderful and I can even see a sparkle in the eye. The only thing lacking is sharpness - I don't know how much better we can get with our point and shoots. You are ahead of me - I can't get myself to post any in-flights I have taken.

Jolie prise Asbed, j'aime bien l'effet du flou de bouger qui dynamise la composition, merci!

Ciao Asbed, lovely flying bird in a splendid sky, too long speed for frozen it, a little of noise, but lovely composition with beautiful colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

You do much better with your in flight shots than I ever could capture... fellow ranger... :) I'm afraid I am a "very still" ranger... ;) Do what you love and do it with gusto... TFS

Larry
