[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is another picture of the pine trees of different kinds, in the rainforest high up on a mountain, outside Juneau. It was very cloudy and foggy.

You are high up here Monika. And what an unusual Pine tree too. It looks quite a stunning view too behind the tree, but so dull and cloudy. Good job though.

Excellent composition showing typical Alaskan weather with a beautiful tree...;-)
I wore more longjohns in the summer in Alaska than I ever wore back home in Louisiana in the winter.
I've been browsing through your shots. So many countries! Wow! I can only dream...;-(
One of my old hobbies was staying up on world capitals. I'm a little rusty right now, but what I like about that hobby is that when I meet someone from another country and I name their capital it seems to create an instant friendship bond.

I'm thinking that is a Hemlock tree. They are quite common farther up on the mountains in the Alaskan Rainforsts. They don't handle the salt as well as the Spruce(who don't like it either)and tend to grow at the lower elevations by the ocean, as well as over the rest of the state. The northern most population of the hemlock can be found on the moutains near Anchorage, where the spruce (Sitka in the south and Black and White more north) are very populas.

Intersting fact: the Spruce grow faster and tend to be bigger, but the Hemlock have flat needles and grow slow and steady. Perhaps some day the Hemlock will take-over.
