This is a view of the Mindemoya River, one of the three major rivers on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. Another one of my favorite fishing holes. This particular area is difficult to fish as there are many fallen trees do to erosion. This is a deep hole that double digit "Bows" like to hang around. You might be able to see 3 potential "Red" nesting site for bows. There are 3 gravel bar going across the river starting at the neck as you view in.
Again another grey day, not much colors so I decided to go B.& W. with this one.
Taken with the S5000 hand held.

In photoshop Elements, I added a couple of solid filters I created and 3 frames and USM.

Mike!
Super winter picture.Very nice composition and note as usual very interesting. Thanks for posting. ziggy

Although I fish,I don't know the term 'bows'. Are we talking Salmon here? In NZ it would more likely be rainbow trout. (Myself,I go surfcasting for Kahawai)
This looks more like a South Island river with the snow all around. The South Island of New Zealand is very much like Canada in many ways. Nice post.

Great B&W picture Mike. I like the POV and the composition. As you mentioned, today was a B&W day. In Montreal, we had the same so-so weather conditions. B&W was a good choice in your case.

I like this Mike! The BW with the river running through the middle and the differints shardes of the trees is stunning.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Nice leading line into the distance. The snow works well with the contrasting trees. Although a B&W has to be unreal to get my attention this one has a pleasing grey tonal range. It's also a breathtaking landscape. Well done.
