One of several male Bright Copper (Paralucia aurifer) that I found displaying on the banks of the Bargo River. The males of this species form leks where they compete for female attention by displaying their shiny pattern in the sun and chasing competitors away.
They have a wingspan of 24mm and fly between August and April through most of south-eastern Australia. They are locally common, preferring the banks of waterways in open eucalypt forest.

Hello Chris,
I think this is a beautiful 'gift' for all TN members. But it's not only the butterlfy appearance producing the attractivity, it is also the way you present it. You show a nicely composed picture underlining the particular colours of this specimen. The focus is exact and sharpness is pretty good.
Best wishes, Peter

Surely, Australian insects are pretty new to me.
Thanks for sharing, Chris. :-)
Lovely colours and excellent details, well focused and wonderful POV&DOF, beautiful BG too.
Ps, did you get my reply for sending Waterfall Redspot? I'm not sure of that. Anyway, thanks again, Chris. I appreciate that very much.

Hi Chris,
a beautiful picture of a beautiful butterfly.
The colour tones are amazing. Well coposed with very nice DOF,
the butterfly standsout well from the BG.
Well done, my friend.

Hello Chris,
Beautiful shot of a wonderful butterfly. More shots of Australian Lycaenids would be much appreciated. This has gone straight to my favourites. I really like the composition and the way the butterfly stands against the BG.
This may be a bit presumptious of me, but I have workshopped it a little and wonder what you think. Thanks a lot for posting this.

Hi Chirs

What a beautiful composition you managed to create here with this lovely butterfly, my friend!
It's colors and pattern are so well visible from this POV and set on that charming blurry BG they seem even more wonderful.
Nice sharpness and spot-on DOF.
