WOW Chris this is a monitor not a skink. :)

I have never seen such a thing before, and the texture is really wonderful. Looks prehistoric. You got a very descriptive shot. Thanks for posting.
Ce reptile est-il en mouvement ou se dore-t-il tout simplement sous le soleil ? Là est la question. Peu importe, il semble très paisible. Il se confond bien avec son environnement. Bonne photo!

450mm is truly a massive skink. I hope the Lizard Man sees this one. You've captured it well too Chris. Good stuff!
Great capture with good sharpness and details, good DOF and well done to avoid glare on his back and tail. Are those gum leaves he's sitting in?

Chris, beautiful picture. Excellent sharpness and composition. The animal has a nice texture, and it was great to spot it among its environment, which has similar colors.

Very good framing of this critter. I like the environment and the quality of the details. Light reflection on the body is well managed, despite what seems to be sunny conditions. Sure it seems to like basking in the sun, your photo shows that very well. Very good catch.

This is a big guy and you managed to get all of him in. The detail is clear accros his whole length. The image sharp and well exposed.
Well done Chris.

I think it's Egernia major. We have a similar species in Papua which occurs also in Oz: Egernia frerei. The BG is a bit cluttered but it really does show the habitat.
