Hi Mark,

Wonderful capture of this Pelican in full flight, lovely frozen action, vibrant colours, looks like some pretty harsh lighting but you've handled it very well, really nice work and worth the trip to the archives, all the best,

Cheers Rick :)

Hi Mark, that is some amazing pose he's given you here. Your timing was perfect. I like how he was just drawing his wings back to give full light on the head and chest when you took the shot. He's sharp too. Shooting at 1/400 worked for you here freezing the action very well. Colour seen on the bird and the background is very good.

Thanks, John

Mark,

Very nicely done! I like how you froze the bird in mid air with great detail and very good sharpness. I am impressed that you keep getting very good results at what I would consider 'slow' shutter speeds. If I had the choice to shoot this bird with such bright lighting, I'd try to go for a faster shutter speed - but I guess in this case it's a personal preference.
Good luck on your trip Mark.

Best Regards,

Martin
