[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Varied Dusky-blue (Candalides hyacinthine) is a locally common butterfly found in eastern and southern Australia up to 200km inland. They are found in a variety of open woodland and heathlands and produce several generations annually with the first adults appearing in late July and then hatching regularly until the following April.
They fly close to the ground often close to patches of their laval food plants from the genus Cassytha. Males frequently perch on stones and sticks and occasionally low shrubs to establish a territory. They have a wingspan of 28mm.
This one is feeding on nectar from the Blunt Beard-heath (Leucopogon muticus).

Hello Chris,
It's not often we see butterfly images from Australia, let alone an attractive Lycaenid like this one, that reminds me of a European species called Purple Haistreak.
The technical qualities are fine and show up its upperside features from a great POV while it is feeding.
Thanks and all the best,
Ivan

Hi Chris,
a dark background, a good macro-wing ...
Very nice composition of flowers and butterfly.Beautiful light used.
Best wishes,

Hi Chris
Excellent capture of this tiny little BF...Fine color and detail...TFS
Jim

A slightly weathered but still a beautiful individual Chris, captured quite sharply from a detail revealing POV with just enough DOF, and that dark BG really enhances the beauty of the image. TFS.

Hello Chris,
What a beauty your Candalides hyacinthine! A butterfly we don't see often on TN. Magical blue of the wings, enhanced by the dark background. Beautiful contrast to the fine white flower. Most beautiful composition.
Thanks and kind regards
Anne

A splendid capture of a most beautiful butterfly, with good detail and great colours. The soft almost velvet texture of the wings are displayed well and is clearly seen. This specific butterfly reminds me of the royalty. Good sharpness, focus and viewpoint, making this an excellent close-up shot. Thank you very much for sharing. Kind regards
