[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this about half hour ago as the sun was going down in the west, this Sulphur-crested Cockatoo comes in on a regular basis, its stunning to watch if you happen to be there when he/she arrives.

It usually starts squawking a couple of hundred meters out and swoops down over the trees and comes in for a perfect landing very time.

The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo's range extends throughout the northern and eastern mainland, and Tasmania. A small population has become established around Perth, Western Australia. The species also occurs in New Guinea and the Aru Islands, and has been introduced into New Zealand and Indonesia.

The popularity of the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo as a cage bird has increased its range, as these birds either escape or are released deliberately in areas where they do not already occur. The species has become a pest around urban areas, where it uses its powerful bill to destroy timber decking and paneling on houses.

Hi Rick, excellent timing on this one, catching that wing spread. He's backlit so while his body may be a little dark, his wings are enhanced by the light. Composition wise, you have him placed perfectly with a great crop. I've created a workshop to look at the darker areas to provide you with some further PP options.

Thanks, John

Hi Rick, Great shot you have here. The pose is perfectly timed. The back lit wings are really nice. The workshop by JPlumb did a great job of brightening the dark underside and reducing some noise but I didn't really notice that until it was pointed out. Great job!

Wings look beautiful :o) TFS
Best wishes,

Hi Richard,
I like the back light effect and the exposure is well managed. Nice details, DOF and great timing on that big open-wing pose :)
Well done,
Howard
