Simpson Dune
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Simpson Desert streches from the center of Australia east of Alice Spring to the border of Queensland 20 KM northwest of Birdsville.
hundreds of red sand dunes follow each other paralell and next to Birdsville they reach a hight of approx 70 meters. The one pictured is called 'Big Red' and a challenge for every 4WD.
At the time the photo was taken a considerable amount of rain turned the desert into a coloufull garden with flowers and water birds in little lakes between the dunes. Travelling the Birdsville Track made us feel like driving on another planet or in a phsycadellic dream.

Wow Thomas. The texture in the sand has been captured superbly. The OOF BG is great allowing the eyes to focus completely on the dune. Is that the real colour of the sand? Fantastic.... Great work. TFS

Nice one, Mick Dundee. The sand is such an amazing colour. I have read of it but never seen it before. I love the shapes and shadows against the BG. Very good job! Well done.
Hi Thomas.
Strange effect this light with the noisy aspect of the sand in perspective and BG. It looks interesting. I like the darkened areas in the corner. Beautiful texures. Thanks.
