[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The most numerous lizard we saw on our eastern desert trek was the Central Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps). It differs from the Eastern bearded Dragon in the arrangment of spines along its flanks and the interior of the mouth is pink, while in the Eastern it is bright yellow.
This dragon is about 350mm long, they live in semi-arid woodland and desert shrubland of the eastern interior of the continent. They are omnivorous, feeding on insects, smaller lizards, vegetable matter and flowers. They are semi-arboreal and can occasionally be found perched on low branches, fence posts and rocks.
This one was taken near Birdsville in south-western Queensland.
Thanks for looking.

The fact that it seemks to be running away should be a negative factor in this photograph, but the way that it looks back at you (the tiny "sparkle") makes it a good one. The warm colours of the dragon fits in well with the red ground. Well exposed and sharp.

Great shot of this beast, Chris.
Let me guess why it has this color. Aaaa... to blend in with the lanscape? :-))

Regards, Petru

Hi Chris,
funny pose you captured, wonderful red colour. I would have preferred a bit more space to clearly make the tail end held high the main focus point (e.g. arrange at a Rule of Thirds position). The head points in the other direction anyway and the tail detail really draws one's attention, so why not exploit this some more. As is, well done!
Regards,
Gabi

Big points for the expsoure especially with that high contrast BG, you keep the detail in focus, this is a well executed shot.

Greg

Hi Chris
Great detail and the background really highlights him. I love the way his tail is sitting up too.

Hi Chris,
An excellent frame filling capture on this Bearded Dragon. There is so much texture and detail in this shot! Everything has great detail. He looks ready to flee, but he has made eye contact to see what you were doing. Nice work here.
Scott

Hi Chris, nice shot. Sharp detail, great color and very well exposed. Well done.

Hola Chris: The red tone (colorado) of the earth it is attractive in the composition, have I tried to capture reptiles here in Tabasco but does the green color of the leaves make me to lose some details, do I like the composition, the great illumination and the details that are appreciated . Saludos Cordiales. *Ninfa Urania*

Hi Chris, nice shot. He was certainly helping with the framing by curling the tail up, what a helpful lizard. I like the brown/red tones, nice details.

Good shot.

Man, Ilove these reptiles. Just wish there where more of them here where I stay. The DOF and coloors are perfect. Well done Chris.
