Kookaburra

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This kookaburra was perched in a tree near the back of my house. The sound of their 'laughter' can often be heard in the bushland nearby.
From Wikipedia: "Kookaburras (genus Dacelo) are large to very large (total length 28-42 cm/11-17 in) terrestrial kingfishers native to Australia and New Guinea.
Kookaburras are best known for their unmistakable call, which is uncannily like loud, echoing human laughter — good-natured, if rather hysterical."

I really like the striking markings on this bird. I'd love to know a bit more about them...laughing? I know from experience that Nature is full of surprises. :-)
Good exposure, great use of natural lighting, and excellent composition. The only nit I have is wanting to know a bit more about this bird - but given I have the name, I can look it up! Thanks for posting!
