I was on my way to work yesterday morning my 10th straight day in a row, and I know I get pretty tired sometimes doing these long shifts, but you have to ask yourself when you drive past a bus stop and see a Reindeer waiting for a bus, if maybe you need to take a break.

I was somewhat amazed as I drove out of the garage rounded the corner to see this Reindeer just standing there.

I shot back home grabbed the camera and took some pictures because I figured if I mentioned to anybody at work that I saw a Reindeer waiting for a bus this morning nobody would believe me.

To cut a long story short the local TV crew turned up and it made the six clock news and I found out this young wild male had been seen in the local area for some time and the council had been trying to catch it.

It also mentioned on the news that they successfully darted and it has been transferred to a local farmer who will now look after it.

But the best news is I know I’m not nuts ;0)

Ha what a nice one Rick...A Reindeer???.... Santa must have put out a look-out notice and N.Pole TV and radio stations must be blaring it for this one ...this beauty must have let loose when sledges were being cleaned...i enjoyed your notes here...i was so amused by the thumbnail....and even more after i opened and saw what is this all about...perfect timing...and i bet you would have really been disappointed had you not been able to get this prized shot...it is momentary and just as it should have been...I wish i had such an encounter..hey even the lady in the picture has whipped out her little P&S:)

The subject is captured in very good profile even at this distance..Rick...what better break than this could you wish for on the tenth straight day at work.Keep at it...u n'ver know what is next";)

Thanks..this was real fun
Cheers

Hello Rick

Great capture, nature and man cross paths all the time.
It reminds me of the time a moose accidentally got stuck in a swimming pool in the city of Ottawa. There is a large population of moose that live in the wild areas outside of the city.It was quite a blow to the so called sophisticates that live in the capital when the moose made international news coverage. They had to drain the pool and haul it out with a crane.
The greens look very lush there at the bus stop.
Excellent detail and focus.
Nicely documented.

bonjour richard
cette scene est vraiment tres originale,a premiere vu on peu penser qui l'animal est seul sur la photo mais ensuite on voit la personne qui a l'air plus intriguée que la bête.
tres sympa.

Hi Rick,

Interesting shot showing how wildlife and humans are increasingly being crowded together. Very nice shot, especially since it's essentially a grab shot.

Hi Rick,

This is priceless! What are the chances of me seeing something like this when I am in Australia? You were so lucky that the bus didn't come before you got back with your camera :-) Great shot with great colors and details and a terrific composition.

Hello Rick,
Fine capture with humorous title!
Of course, this is not a Reindeer but a Red Deer stag that looks as if it wants to find a bus back to the park where it came from! This could win a photo competition as the technical quality and composition are great!
TFS,
Cheers,
Ivan

No, you're not nuts and you can prove it too.
Good shot Richard, and I do like the expression of the lady - it wouldn't hurt her would it? But she does look scared.
Well caught!
Janice

I guess it got loose from a venison farm?

Hello Richard,

What an early morning shock!
You must have done a double-take on this sight!

I love this!
Not only is it amusing, it is sharply focussed, nicely detailed and very well composed. I love how the curb makes a diagonal entry from b/l corner.

You can't be suffering too much from overwork if you remember to take your camera to work with you!

Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Rick,
this sure is an interesting photo you have graced TN with and one that isn't all that often seen.I have on my way to work left my place and walked by a herd of whitetail deer standing on my front lawn and only ten or so feet from me and I live nearly dead center in High River and one day I almost tripped over a skunk going out my door,so though not common, wildlife sure does show up at unexpected times. The composition has good focal point interest and is sharp and nicely coloured. The one thing about this shot that really is great is how with all the man made things in the photo give a sense of scale to the deer.A shot with a sense of humor and thank you for sharing it with us. Bob
