I have a number of Dragonflies in my yard and they seem to have been living here for some time. I thought i'd try to photograph them for practice. It isn't as easy as it sounds. I think this is a male adult Fiery Skimmer, a common Dragonfly around my way. He is quite tame and territorial. I have a few more different Dragonflies that I will post when I get around to it.
Sorry the focus isn't perfect but I had a difficult time shooting this later in the day and with my normal lens. I initially tried the zoom lens but could only get parts of the animal in focus. I tried AF and MF, but to no avail. He let me get quite close. Any tips to photographing these creatures would be helpful. WS shows off my DOF problems. |
