Two Kookaburras
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
These two kookaburras settled in a tree right outside my backdoor this morning.
Kookaburras are believed to pair for life. The nest is a bare chamber in a naturally occurring tree hollow or in a burrow excavated in an arboreal (tree-dwelling) termite mound. Both sexes share the incubation duties and both care for the young. Other Laughing Kookaburras, usually offspring of the previous one to two years, act as 'helpers' during the breeding season. Every bird in the group shares all parenting duties.

Hi Jeanne,
A Wonderful capture of these two kookaburras in their natural environment. Beautiful colours, I have a family who are regular visitors to the garden and they are one of my favourite subjects, your captured this pair with excellent detail, really nice work, all the best.
Cheers Rick :)
HI Jeanne,
it's so pretty to see these impressive birds in free nature ... You are so lucky to have them living next to you.
I also saw a couple last week - but not free, in a tropical house. Had a shot of one here, but yours are much better because you show them in their usual place.
Thanks and greetings

Hi Jeanne
Very nice photo, I like the detail and clarity. Well done. Are these male and female?

Hello Jeanne,
We don't have those birds here and every time I see them, I'm very impressed. You were lucky to capture this couple in one picture :) Composition and details are very good. There is a little OE part on the head of the left one but it must have been very difficult to calibrate and to get the second one perfectly exposed. Sometimes, use of flash (especially flash extender can help for this kind of shot) Anyway, I’m being picky and this is a very nice and interesting shot. Thanks,
Claudine
