And the suffering starts

As some of you may know I have spent quite some time down at the Port of Brisbane photographing the wildlife in there natural environment it is a special place for us and I have captured some great images their.
Well over the last couple of days that pristine environment especially Morton Island has been hit hard.
A ship carrying 50 shipping containers, all of which contained ammonium nitrate and of which 31 were lost overboard in rough weather, and one piecing the hull which released over 650 tonnes of fuel into the Morton Bay aera.
I found this Pelican at the Port of Brisbane this morning trying to preen it self with what appeared to be an oil stain on its chest; we also found what appears to be a deceased Loggerhead Turtle lying on the sand. (w/s) image.
I guess this is just the start of things to come,

Hello Rick,
Yes I heard the report of the environmental disaster on the news and once again it is sad to be reminded that we just don't know how to live on this planet without destroying habitats, wildlife and eventually our own future.
A fine, sharp full-frame capture of this Australian Pelican caught in a great pose even if the associations are sad.
Thanks anyway and all the best,
Ivan
hello Richard
i saw that bad news this morning on the news,
my words in English are not as good as Ivan's
i agree with him what he wrote on the first part of his critique,
it is very bad that us humans are destroying the natural habitats,
beautiful photography of this Australian Pelican,
great sharpness and details of its wonderful plumage,
i love the expression of his eye,
it is also sad to see the photo of the turtle on the WS,

Hello Rick,
What a crime. We can only hope that things won't get as bad as anticipated. I saw this on the news here too. It's a real shame.
At least the Pelican looks like it will survive.
John

TFS and cheers,
