This is the fourth in the series of images taken on our two day trip to the Girraween National Park. I hope I’m not driving you all nuts with theses shot, after we had visited the Granite Arch we decided to trek around to the Pyramid.

This is a 3.4km walk and takes about 2 hours to do the return trip; the track to the base of this monstrous granite dome has gentle to moderate gradients. You weave your way though eucalypt forests and past rocky outcrops, and wetlands to the base of the exposed rock face.

The smells of the eucalypt forests and the sounds of birds singing in the distance during the walk to the Pyramid is pretty hard to describe, and sometime it was so quite the silence was only broken by a Eastern Grey Kangaroo crossing our path, it really makes this an amazing place to visit.

This shot was taken ¾ of the way up the face of the Pyramid and all I can say the views were stunning, I hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Details; Shot Raw converted to Jpeg reduced in size sharpened slightly for posting.

Hi Rick,
Lovely shot, very well chosen POV with good saturated colour and an immense DOF. You have caught the texture of this grey pyramid really well too, great job mate. The silence sounds great, if that makes sense!
tfs,
Paul

Hello Richard,
Excellent shot with very beautifull light and also very sharp.
Regards
Nikos.

We are not bored at all Richard, a fine scene indeed with powerful rock formations in dominance, the smooth sky contrasts nicely with rhe rough surface of the formation, a good effect my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Splendida immagine, eccellenti POV e DOF, molto bella la composizione con la diagonale occupata dalla roccia di granito, ottima nitidezza e molto belli e naturali i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Certainly not bored, just sitting back and enjoying your travels. Great photo yet again.

Hi Richard,
The exposure in this shot is remarkable, given the bright sun,the reflective granite rock and the fact that you had your white balance on auto.
Its a reall good shot all around.
Seems to be just a slight tilt to the horizon though ?
Nice work.
Steve

Hi Richard,
a fine and well composed landscape picture.
You go a nice deep and lovely colors, it's well exposed
a sharp details maybe a bit too sharp since we see a halo around
the edges.
Well done.

Hello Rick,
The diagonal slope adds dynamics to the composition, and the wonderful blue sky makes a great background!
Good texture in the rock, the shadow play adds life...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Rick

Great shor of the side of this granite dome and tor remnants. Alovely composition with great division of the frame and good use of light.

These domes are typical of old continental 'Shield' ares that have not been glaciated - hence they are found in Australia, India, Africa and E South America.

James

Hi Rick
It is lovely to see the story of Girraween unfolding in your series of shots. Nice angle on this one and good colours. It must have been nice to have good weather!
Cheers
Sue

I wish I could see this huge rock pyramid with my own eyes, Richard, but then you have shot a part of it in such an effective way it gives the impression as if I am standing right next to you. I can see that we are at an elevation and looking both ways -- up as well as down.
Two rough triangles converge diagonally within the rectangle of the frame, making it a wonderful and artistic composition.
The blue sky and the grey rock go very well with each other.
TFS and regards.
Ram

Hi Richard,
Sounds like a fantastic place, I would very much like to visit Australia before I spin off this mortal coil..
It's in my top 5 anyway :)
I enjoy the simple and effective comp. Nice detail/DOF & color.
The diagonally split frame works well..I like the long shadows coming off the rocks adding depth to the shot.
Well done,
Howard

Hi Richard,
good shot. You know that in Girraween National Park you can find a lot of interestin birds too. Amongst them the Satin Bowerbird
regards
Pierre
