[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hi guys and girls,

i've decided to not post a bird shot today, and maybe to post a few inverts for a few posts.

so i thought id start with this one.. i would love to say this came about due to my brilliant photography skills, but unfortunately have to put down to sheer luck.

i was out roaming my backyard one day, taking shots of random things, when a bee (blue-banded bee, Amegilla sp.) flew in. i snapped 3 shots off before it flew off. I didn't expect any to turn out, and don't think i even looked at the previews on the camera as i expected them just to be 3 blurry, delete later, pics.

Once i got them to the computer, to my suprise, i had managed to catch the bee in flight from a nice side on POV, and with a small lynx spider on the flower as an added bonus!

so the moral for todays story is, even if you don't think you'll get the shot, click anyway! who knows what you might end up with. gotta love digital..

thanks for looking

Hi Gethin,
Beautiful in flight macro shot.Colors, sharpness,DOF and moment you caught are excellent.
Thanks for posting.

Wow! Nice shot. The flower is sharply focussed and looks gorgeously coloured. The flower and bumblebee together make one great shot! Excelent composition and POV. Great work.

Hi Gethin, I go with that moral. Digital's cheap, you might as well shoot. In any case it did take a certain amount of skill to set the aperture and speed for this "lucky" shot, and you knew how to compose and when to fire for perfect positioning, so I think you can take some credit. The shot is very nice, with great depth of field giving us the bee, spider and flower. Detail is great throughout, and the colours are great. Exposure and timing were perfect.

Thanks, John

Hi Gethin,
totally agree with your line of thought, you never know what you might get til you get it home..yep, gotta love digital!
You caught a great moment here, with this Bee coming into land. Colours and sharp focus of the flower are great too and the Bee itself is very well placed - nice work!

Bellissima macro, molto bella la composizione con la contrapposizione-attrazione del fiore e dell'insetto, buona nitidezza, colori belli e saturi. Grazie e complimen ti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Getlin,

Nicely captured flying bee.

Good sharp and lots of details.

Gert

Hi Gethin
The aperture worked well for getting both the bee, flower and spider in focus but still blur the flower behind. An interesting shot, well done and TFS. It just goes to show that you dont have to travel far to take good images.
Cheers
Sue

Hi Gethin,

Excellent action photo. I have very rarely seen a bee in flight. I have not tried to catch any myself but I just have to assume it is not that easy otherwise this forum would be full of them. That is just cool! Great composition, sharp details and bright colours.

Hi Gethin,

Apologies for not being around much had a brief spell in hospital so I'm still trying to catch up on a lot of missed postings, this is beautiful that 1/500 has frozen the bee but just left the wings in motion, superb detail, and the colours of the flower are stunning, love the POV, perfect d.o.f, really nice work mate,

Cheers Rick :)
