My lovely wife took me out to the port of Brisbane yesterday for some fresh air, so many thanks to everyone for your kind words of suport hopefull I'm well on the road to recovery, I have to be honest I really haven’t felt much like doing anything for the last couple of days, least of all taking pictures, but I think it did me the world of good, sitting on the beach enjoying the sun and fresh air seemed to re-charge the old batteries.

Much to my surprise the Brahminy Kite which I had chased over several days a couple of weeks ago trying to get a shot of, landed in the tree right next to us by the mangrove, it stayed there for at least half an hour, such a beautiful looking bird I eventually went and got the camera from the car and took a couple of shots.

I won’t repeat all the information and details of the Kite as that can be found on my previous posts, but I did use a polarizer on this and I also bracketed the shot by (+ / - ) 1/3, the image was shot Raw and converted to Jpeg, cropped and resized, and sharpened slightly.

I also ran it though “neat image” to reduce some of the digital noise in the sky after sharpening it.

Hallo Richard
Time is little, but I cannot pass without leaving my comment and appreciation for this beautiful photograph. This is just such an elegant and proud looking bird. The frontal view in which you captured it displays the lovely white chest and head feathers in such a way that one cannot but admire it. A neat looking bird captured in a lovely pose.
Kind regards and thanks for sharing.

So that is it Rick, life comes around to one life around sometimes...wondeful shot of the Brahminy Kite...the eye is attractive and creates a beautiful contrast againt the white plumage. I guess the light tuned a bit too harsh on the subject though...

Hey Rick, you must be becoming familiar to him, for him to start coming in closer like this, or maybe he's upset your not chasing him. You've caught him in an excellent pose on that dead branch. The blue behind him really sets off those white feathers of his. Colour is excellent, very natural looking and you've captured very excellent detail on this bird. Love that eye.

Thanks, John

Bellissima immagine, molto bella la composizione verticale con la ripresa frontale e la posa sul grosso ramo, ottima nitidezza, molto belli e saturi i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Richard,
Very beautiful photo of this Brahminy Kite. Great sharpness and excellent clear colours. Nice pose and very good DOF.
I hope you feeling better now.
Regards,
Peter

What a beautiful bird. The coloring is simply breathtaking. The composition works so well, especially the blue sky contrasting with the colors of the birds. The POV and DOF are perfect. Wonderful shot though; I'm envious.

Rick,

What an awesome looking bird! The white feathers are beautiful - something you don't really see on our birds of prey too often. You've done very well here even though you were shooting a white / dark bird in full sunlight. That's never easy. TFS, and hope you'll feel better soon.

Best Regards,

Martin

Hi Rick,
Very nice shot of this elegant raptor. I liked the frontal POV, composition and details. TFS
All the best,
Selen

Hi Rick,
This is an impressive bird! I would have been very glad to have met him... It's not the kind of subject which is easy to expose with those contrasted colors and even is his head is slightly over exposed, the rest of the bird show nice details and agreeable tones of colors. This blue sky makes it stands out nicely. Well done!
