A really big thank you to everyone who passed by and left a comment / critic on the Black Swan as always its really appreciated many thanks, we’ve had a couple of days of rain up here (none drought breaking) but all the same I’m not complaining its needed, so opportunity’s to get out and about have been somewhat limited.

Hence the reason for posting this second picture of the Black Swan, it was taken on the same day as the first posting and actually is the same Swan just from a slightly different angle, and they just seem to have such elegance about them, almost regal.

So I hope you don’t mind the double up,

Details, Shot Raw converted to Jpeg, vertically cropped resized and sharpened for posting.

This image of the Black Swan in portrait orientation is equally beautiful, Richard.
The eye of this regal bird is riveting and matches well with the colour of its bill.
All in all, an admirable capture.
TFS and regards.

I have posted a nearly identical image as this one Rick, a while back now. They are very regal looking swans and they are quite a joy to photograph. I like how they hold their heads up like this,

Very nice close and personal portrait of this swan Rick. You can do a double up on us any time you want when you do it like this. Your detail with the water, glistening on the swans head is excellent, as it the colour seen in those eyes and that beak. The water makes an excellent backdrop for this dark bird. Very awesome work.

Thanks, John

Hello Richard,
Though we see them in European parks it's nice to see a close capture of a native Black swan taken where it belongs - in Australia.
Lovely POV to show the elegance of this bird, even close to with good sharpness and lighting. Nice composition too.
As red and black in combination are nature's warning colours it perhaps helps to keep off predators during the breeding season: something I just though of while studying this fine shot!
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Regards,
Ivan

Hello Richard,
Beautiful photo of this Black Swan. Excellent details and great contrasting colours against the BG. Good composition.

Peter

Lovely portrait with amazing details. I love the curve of the head; it reminds me of a bit of shyness as if 'I'm pretty, yes, but let's not make a big deal of it' sort of thing. The eye and bill are brilliant in color, and I think the black coloration makes it even stand out more. Very lovely job, here.
