We’ve had some pretty cool mornings the last couple of days up here in Brisbane and some pretty foggy ones to, but by mid afternoon it brightens up quite nicely especially when these guys come in for a feed.

I have posted a couple of images before on the Rainbow Lorikeet’s so apologies for inflecting yet another one on you but when the sun pops out and hits these guys they just seem to light up.

The Rainbow Lorikeet is unmistakable with its bright red beak and colourful plumage. Both sexes look alike, with a blue (mauve) head and belly, green wings, tail and back, and an orange/yellow breast. They are often seen in loud and fast-moving flocks, or in communal roosts at dusk.

The eggs of the Rainbow Lorikeet are laid on chewed, decayed wood, usually in a hollow limb of a eucalypt tree. Both sexes prepare the nest cavity and feed the young, but only the female incubates the eggs.

Details; Shot Raw and converted to Jpeg, cropped and resized sharpened slightly for posting.

Hallo Richard
What a delightful and colourful image of this Rainbow Lorikeet. This is a beautiful bird and you have captured it in a perfect close-up pose. The different coloured of layered plumage is vivid and very bright and the details of the beak and red eye are displayed well. The framing and composition is great. A pleasant image with great natural colours and light.Thank you very much for sharing. I enjoyed this one, as this is a lovely and looks like to be a friendly bird.
Kind regards
Anna

Hello Rick,
Great to see a Rainbow Lorikeet against a blue sky, instead of being half visible among masses of bottle brush flowers. You got this one sharply, from a great POV and nicely composed between the two stems.
TFS this beauty,
Ivan

Hello Rick, well I recognize that great tree, and this guy is one of probably a dozen or more that hang around your place. Very nice light on this one (it's always sunny in Brisbane eh??), with a great blue sky as the backdrop. Great colour and great sharp detail seen on the tree and Lorikeet. Oh ya, and great eye!

Thanks, John

Hi Richard,
Outstanding shot of this beautiful Rainbow Lorikeet with such amazing colours and details on its plumage. Great pose captured among those flowers and the blue sky acts as a superb backdrop. Superb bright lighting and the exposure is skillfully handled. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Richard

Fantastic colors in this beautiful bird. The light is excellent and the details and focus are spot on. Perhaps the subject would have looked even more appealing against a darker BG, but there is only so much you can control in nature photography!
