Hi everyone,

Here's a shot taken in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park down in Tasmania. This was one place i HAD to visit while i was there. The Franklin-Gordon River has some history. This river spurred the creation of The Wilderness Society and was fought for in one of Australia’s largest ever conservation fights, back in the 80's.. A dam on the Gordon River. Thankfully, it’s still flowing free!!!!

On this day i was there, it was really flowing free, and that’s a beautiful thing to see.. it was snowing up in the Mountains (in the middle of summer mind you), the rain was coming down, Nelson Falls (behind me) was bucketing down that it was so hard to get a photo due to the spray coming off them and the rain! I managed to get a shot, and thankfully my camera didn't and hasn’t died due to water damage! =) That’s why i named this shot “Stormy Serenity”. It looks peaceful, yet, Mother Nature was actually putting on a wonderful show with an incredible backdrop.

Going here really made me think about how lucky we are to have this amazing world around us.. i cant imagine how anyone would want to ruin it for a dam.. thankfully they haven’t but it breaks my heart to think of how many sights like this around the world that have already been lost for whatever reasons.. We really, really need to look after this planet!!!!

Hi Gethin,

This is one place I would love to have seen when my wife and I went down to Tassie; unfortunately time was not on our side. Really like the effect on the water from the slow shutter speed, good d.o.f, t.f.s

Cheers Rick :)

Hello Gethin

Wow,you really captured a rich,woody,earthy feel here.
The silky waters are beautiful.
I really like the mossy logs and ferns. My kind of place.
Nicely composed.The title fits well.
Great job

Very interesting. The wind effect in the trees is a nice touch -- goes well with the flowing water. Gary

Hi Gethin,

You picked a tranquil spot shot with such a low speed. The result is brilliant as I can feel the running water and the swaying leaves. Natural spot with lichens ferns.

Have a great weekend and best regards,
Jusni

Hi Gethin,
Excellent glimpse from Tasmania!
I like a lot the POV you managed to get, given the condition as you mentioned on your notes.
It's very interesting the outcome of the 8 seconds exposure, not only on the water stream, but also in the movement of the trees.
Tasmania is definitely on my agenda, for sure.
Great picture and thanks a lot for share it.
Best regards,
JM
