Taken at Wilson's Promontory in Gippsland.
This was the best that I could do without a cable release for a long shutter shot.
Given the circumstances, I'm rather pleased at even being able to experience such a night sky again 18 months after the first time.
With reference to the image title, I like sometimes to stop and think about what we see in the sky at night.
While it is common knowledge that light from the stars that we see at night have taken hundreds and thousands of years to reach us, it really is mind boggling when you actually let the idea sink in and take effect.
We are essentially looking into a very unknown past, with no way of knowing the current present of what we are looking at.
The feeling of being such a minuscule part of the universe is simply overwhelming for me. |
