[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi everyone,

here's a Galah (Eolophus roseicapillus), a fairly common bird around these parts. I quite often see flocks around, sitting on powerlines or grazing on grass and lawns. They have a unique call that i hear quite often too, as they fly by.

This post follows on from my last post of a Corella upside down, i guess. They were both sitting in the same tree, before this galah and it's partner flew down to the ground to munch on the small white flowers in the grass.

This was taken on a walk down my local bicycle track, which is becoming my fave local place to take photo's as of late. I can just go on a short afternoon or morning walk and there is plenty of interesting species to see, of which pics i'll eventually get around to showing.

update. i thought it might be a good time to show the group of galahs that visit near my place in a workshop.
feel free to have a look-see.

cheers

Hi Gethin

LOvely POV with great detail and excellent eye contact.

Hi Gethin.
This actually looks good for having grass as the background. The DOF did that for you.
Great focus, and attention to the eye as well.

Hi Gethin, very awesome shot and capture of that eye. Your colour and detail on this bird and its plumage is very excellent. It was good of him to lift his head like this, it almost looks like a pose. I am still waiting and looking for those "flocks". The most I've seen is about a dozen. Ah well, someday.

Thanks, John

Hi Gethin,

Very good capture of this strange looking bird. Nice composition, low POV, sharp details, good eye contact and bright colours.

Hi Gethin

Lovely shot of the Galah,
Nice profile pose and a great POV, with well saturated colours and fine details with a lovely catchlight in the eye.
I like the workshop too with all the flock of Galahs feeding on the lawn.

Stunning photo with vibrant color in spite of the hot sun. Wonderful composition and closeup of facial features. He doesn't seem bothered by you, either!

Hello Gethin. You are lucky to see this a fairly common bird. I have seen a few posted by friends down under. This one is nicely captured on the ground with pleasant small grass flowers. I like the softness of the color and yet the vivid detail of the bird. The eye is so sharp and shining in the image. Very well done and best regards. Jusni

Gethin,
This is a lovely shot, the plumage and the bird overall have been detailed very well.
Thanks!
Goldy

Hi Gethin,

It's a nice portret of the parrot. Very good DOF keeping whole bird sharp. Nice color tones rendering.

Best regards,
Cristian
