[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) is the largest bird of prey in Australia with a wingspan of up to 2.8m and a length of 1.2m. They are found throughout the continent and also in Papua New Guinea and are most numerous away from the coastline. They inhabit just about every environment, from treeless plains and deserts to heavily timbered mountain forests. They are predominantly a scavenger, but will hunt small mammals if the opportunity arises. They breed between June and November, producing one offspring. Usually found singly or in pairs, they will congregate in groups of up to ten in areas of abundant food, often along stretches of road where roadkills are common and in rural areas affected by drought.
This male was shot in the Northern Territory Wildlife Park where the birds perform as part of the free flight display, and it was quite impressive to have such a large bird flying around in front of you. The insert shows a bird in flight, illustrating the characteristic wedge-shaped tail.
Post-processing involved blurring the background in Photoshop, some sharpening and cropping.

Very good head you made, good sharpnes, good colours and dof and a fantastic note. I like it very much, great job

Very impressive portrait, conveying the essential of this beautiful eagle. Looks very close. Very good light enabling to show the chest in the shade, while the wings are brought out by the sun. Head and beak a bit overexposed. Eye has a fantastic presence. Very good shot Chris! A minor nit... I would have posted the insert separately as a WS, to leave this imposing stature as you've framed it.

Great atmosphere in this shot, the thumb on top is a bit distracting.

Although it was a good idea to place the other image within this one to show us the wedge, I believe you would have done the picture justice by placing the other as an example in workshop.
This is a beautiful portrait of the eagle. If he was to the right a bit more it would have openned up the left side to make us wonder, what's over there.?

Very nice portrate clear and sharp and I like very much the insert for ariel ident is very good it shows very well why it is an easy bird to identify in flight.

What really catches my eye is the unique patterns on the feathers. It looks great. It's a lovely bird, Chris and you got him well. Very sharp details. The composition maybe a bit more space to the left and less to the right, but that personal and subjective.

This guy is beautiful! The eye detail adds to the impact of the shot. The wingspan as shown in the insert and indicated in the note is enormous!

Chris, I'm fascinated about eagles, although I have never had the chance to see one. Very beautiful photo with great sharpness DOF and POV. Beautiful pose and nice blurred BG.
