Happy new year to everyone here on TN

I would like to thank Niek and Jose for there time and effort they put in doing a workshop of this image, thus highlighting areas which could be improved on.
I have made some adjustments to improve this image hope you like them
Some selected noise reduction with design 2.0
Color saturation and contrast levels with PS CS3

Frequently taken for Rainbow Lorikeets, Red-collared Lorikeets are actually a distinct species who are incredibly brightly colored and lovely in their own right.
Taxonomically, the birds are very similar. Both are Trichoglossus haematodus, the Rainbow being sub-species moluccanus and the Red-collared,rubritorquis. To look at, they are nearly identical in size and shape, but very different in colouration. All the Red-collareds that I have seen are very similar in colouration, the only variation being in the intensity of the orange (red) of the collar and chest area, whereas Rainbows vary markedly in their colouration.Like other lorikeets, the Red-collared Lorikeet has a brush-tipped tongue specially adapted for harvesting nectar and pollen from blossoms. To allow quick digestion, their digestive system is short with a thin-walled stomach.

Hi Jon, this is a lovely colourful photo, I like the composition and DOF, it seems very Australian with the gum blossoms. The workshop version is an improvement, although I thought the original was good too.
