My friend and I visited Wittunga Botanic Gardens last week. There are many plants in flower at the moment. I have no idea what any of these seeds are but they looked facsinating perhaps someone may be able to shed some light. It was pretty cloudy but the temperature was lovely. We had a great day taking endless photos of the flora and fauna.

Wittunga Botanic Garden:

In 1902, Edwin Ashby established Wittungas’s gardens based on a formal English design. The garden’s continual development reflected Edwin’s passion for Australian flora and included a collection of South African species.

When Edwin died in 1941 Wittunga was passed to his son, Keith Ashby. In 1965, Keith Ashby, with his family’s encouragement, donated Wittunga to the State, under the care of the Board of the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium. After Keith Ashby’s death in 1971, the Board assumed full responsibility for Wittunga.

The Garden was officially opened to the public in September 1975.

Hi Deb,
Great image of these seeds, they are certainly different! They look like minature feathers! Excellent sharpness and details, well done and TFS!

Hi Deb

A great shot - Fantastic composition - I love the wavy line created by the seed heads and the sharpness is excellent.

Hi Debbie,
Nice to see something so similar so far from home. Excellent focus on the subject, perfect exposure and of course a very nice seeds.
TFS, José M.

Hello Debbie,
I like the clarity of this image a lot! Details are amazing and so is composition and exposure. I have seen those on this site. If I'm not mistaken they are called fireweeds or something like that. Thanks,
Claudine

Excellent presentation and a valuable lesson on how to properly get both exposure, detail and depth. Excellent camera work!

Greg

Hello Debbie,
Thanks for loking at my recent picture and writing your critique on it.

I admire the way you have "seen" and composed this arrangement of interesting seeds in a botanical garden. Speaks well of your high sense of aesthetics.

The composition is a delight to look at.
Best regards,
Ram

Hello Debbie

They look very interesting to me.They make a lovely composition with their wispy, feathery plumes. The dark greens make a nice contrast to the white.Very well illuminated with good colour saturation.TFS

Hi Debbie

What a charming sight!
I really like all those geometrical shapes and lines of these interesting flower.
The composition created is lovely and the DOF that you used is excellent to isolate them from the BG.
Well done!
