[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the male version of the Wood Duck (I thought it wasn't fair just to show the female) that I showed in my previous posting. The image was taken a Wittunga Conservation Park which is situated in Blackwood a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia.

Australian Wood Duck
Scientific name: Chenonetta jubata
Family: Anatidae
Order: Anseriformes

Description
The Australian Wood Duck is a medium-sized 'goose-like' duck with a dark brown head and a pale grey body with two black stripes along the back. Males have the darker head and a small dark mane, with a speckled brown-grey breast and a black lower belly and undertail. The females have a paler head with two white stripes, above and below the eye, a speckled breast and flanks, with a white lower belly and undertail. In flight, the wings are pale grey above, contrasting with black wingtips, and have a noticeable white bar on the underside (the secondaries). They walk easily on land and may be seen perching on logs and in trees. They will only take to open water when disturbed. This species is also known as the Maned Duck or the Maned Goose.

Cheers,
Debbie

Focus razor sharp giving us nice detail on the feathers. Exposure is excellent for a dark subject in challenging light conditions. Nice composition and low POV.

Hi Debbie, good shot of this male (fair is fair) Wood Duck. It's very nicely composed. You've given him some room to move, and you've picked up his rippled reflection in the water. You've got good body definition.

Thanks, John

Good exposure and detail, well taken!

Hi Debbie.
I am very touched by your kind words of the comment (and your Intro too). Thank you very much. You are right: wild nature photography is a great passion.

You have a very nice photo collection. Present shot is so nice. You managed to take an excellent shot with kit lens. Cute subject, perfect sharpness and details of the duck, impressive low POV and fine composition of the shot. Reproduction of the water surface, waves around the duck are wonderful. I wish you many true friend and more so beautiful photos.
Alexei.
