These handsome fellas were taking the morning sun strung out on an old metal beam that serves as part of a dry dock for boats being pulled up for repairs. I particularly liked the contrast of their smooth and impeccable plumage with the textures, colours and patina of the rusty beam. I LOVE the patterns and textures of rust!
My Australia bird book is not the best, but I think these are pied cormorants (shags, to you New Zealanders out there). If I'm wrong, please let me know.

A funny shot of these cormorants all lined up. Very sharp details and excellent exposure with the blacks and whites.
Our cormorants look different (double breasted cormorants), but they like to do the same thing: stand there all in one line.
Funny birds. I enjoy watching them.
Well done and TFS. : )

LOL! That's cute, they look like a chorus line at Chippendale's, all dressed up in their tuxes.

Manyee,
I think that is double 'crested', not double breasted. LOL! :o)

nice photo and excelent POV. Good shot John. TFS

Hi John

So you got your 'ducks in a row'.... oopps that should be shags. Looks like the line to buy U2 tickets here in New Zealand. Nice work. Thanks.

Hi John,
This one is excellent! The exposure is spot on here. This has rendered well saturated, and vibrant colors. Detail is nice and sharp. The composition and framing look great. This one rocks!
Scott

Very good capture. Looks like a fish-thief-line-up. Very good lighting and POV.

Well done

Hi John
Funny scene with the poses of the cormorants. Excellent details and colours. I agree with you about the details of the rust - quite amazing.
Toni

An excellent and well timed shot, John!

Each one slightly different but beautifully detailed and nicely captured.

A great composition, thank you for sharing it with us.

Very nice shot of these decked out gentlemen on parade. I think you are right in that they are nicely contrasted with the rust. Nice exposure, composition and frame. TFS

This is great, all lined up for their class reunion photo shoot all captured well with a very nice exposure. :)

John, no doubt this is a very nice moment. Besides, I enjoy composition, pov and the slightly blurred water/bg.

Some overexposure in some areas of the plumages, but I know that dealing with such while color is not something easy.
