This is actually the beach that is below the Bluff. It is a steep climb down a lot of stairs, it's even steeper when you are going up! Part of the Bluff in this image is in the sun.

It was a glorious Autumn day when the image was taken. It is about an hours drive from where I live in the Adelaide Hills. The day was beginning to come to an end and as you can see because of the steep cliff the beach was in shadow.

The Bluff
(Rosetta Head)

This prominent headland is formed of granite. The granite originated when magma was squeezed up from deep in the continental crust during the mountain building episode which occurred about 500 million years ago. This is known because sediments left by the ice age, which occurred at that time, rest immediately on top of it, and boulders of granite were carried, by the ice, northwards. The smooth rounded profile of the Bluff is attributed to the erosive action of this ice sheet.

Hi Debbie,
A beautiful seascape!
You did pretty well with the exposure settings, despite the difficult lighting conditions at the moment, you had half shadows/light in the same framing.
I like so much the way you managed to compose the image, with the presence of the lonely gull that makes a light accent colour between the rocks.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Deb,
Nice image of the Bluff! Great composition with the rocks in the background and rocks and water in the foreground. The seagull adds a nice touch. Great lighting and colours! Well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Wow debbie,
This is such a nice shot of the light and shade.
The surfwashed sands in teh FG looks too nice against the backdrop of the well lit rocks.A very good composition

Hello Debbie

A beautiful place. The gull is a nice touch. The focus is sharp with excellent details.Nice rich colours.I like the duality of the shot. The ocean seems so active, but the foreground seems so peaceful.TFS

Hi Debbie, great shot of the beach of "The Bluff". The composition is good (especially with the inclusion of your winged guest). The lighting for the most part is good, might be a tad dark on the right (but it's not objectionable). Great colour and I really like the textures here.

We had a day that we spent in Victor Harbour in early April. Most of that time was spent on Granite Island. Now I'm kicking myself for missing this. Well just as well, gives me something to do on my next trip out. Looks like it could be a good place for whale watching.

Thanks, John

Witaj Debbie!
Beautiful view. Lighting went out nicely. The sun was partly covered surely. Super sharpness. Sea-gull adds charm.
I congratulate and greet - Roma

Hi Debbie.
Thank you for your decision. It is so pleasant to me.
Your next shot is great. I like how well picture is exposed despite complex lighting. Combination of well illuminated and darkened parts of the image is amazing. Shot is composed perfectly. Colours and details of the image are great too. Even alone gull decorates the picture excellently. Bravo and my best regards.
Alexei.

Hi Debbie I spent 3 weeks in OZ enjoyed every min wish it was 3mths its good to see such views again the composition is well thought out and technically fine. The bird adds a focal point nicely placed in the frame tfs rgds Necip.

Quel beau paysage, le jeu de la lumière dans le bg et le premier plan est superbe.

Hi Debbie,

wow what a great shot! Excellent lighting, i love the shady, cool looking foreground against the bright headland at the back. Nice composition and great timing with that wave about to break. It looks very similar to the coast around my part of the world.

tfs,

Paul

A stunningly beautiful landscape - nicely captured contrasts, and the lone gull sits just in the right spot!
Cheers
Otto
