What a beautiful shot!!! Love the comp with the flowers. Nice tight focus on the eye. Your ISO settings of 1600 might be too high - did you do that intentionally? You need to clean up noise on this - other than that - great shot!!

Warms my heart to see these guys in the wild. In the US, they are only seen in zoos or in someone's home ...

Congrats on getting to your camera .. you wont regret it!

Hi Debbie,
Very good shot,good colours and details. Very clean for ISO 1600. Was probably dip shade. Usually I do not go higher than 800 but I think you don’t have other choice. The bird is beautiful. I would very, very happy to see one in the wild.

Hi Debbie, great shot of this Lorikeet. The from behind view point works. You have great visibility of much of the bird this way that you wouldn't have otherwise. His turning towards you worked to your advantage. Depth of field is good, with the capture of the flowers he's on, but with blurring of the background. Great sharp shot with excellent detail.

Wow, I love the Rainbow Lorikeets, they're so beautiful in their bright colours and their behaviour is fun to watch. But - the noise is dreadful!! Lovely sharp capture of this one int he flowering Eucalyptus with its pretty white flowers. I do like the composition!

Hello Debbie,

A wonderful picture of a very beautiful and colorful bird! You are lucky to live in a place with such diverse wildlife!

Composition:

The composition is very good and shows great artistic skills. I agree with including the Eucalyptus blossoms in the picture as it gives us some informations of this bird's habitat. The pose of the bird is also great showing us an easy readable silhouette against a well blurred background. The only thing I wish was not in the picture is the diagonal branch in the background. Luckily it is very blurred and doesn't distract from your subject.

Colors:

The colors are fantastic and show us this bird in all its beauty! Saturation is well adjusted to render natural colors!

Contrast:

The overall contrast in your picture is very good! I like the fact that the contrast in the foreground is stronger than in the background. It emphasizes the subject better.

Exposure:

I must say you are a very courageous photographer! It takes a lot of courage to Use ISO 1600! I've never used it. It must have been pretty dark there by the time you took the picture. However, exposure is great, with no details lost in shadows or highlights. The only draw back is the noise that resulted from using ISO 1600. But it isn't too bad. Actually the noise level is pretty low for such a high ISO. Congratulations! I guess I would have used a flash or a tripod and hoped that the bird wouldn't move too fast. :)

Focus:

Focus is accurate and sharpness very good. The DOF was also well controlled to blur everything behind the subject! Very well done!

A wonderful capture and very interesting camera settings! The notes are also useful and well documented! Great job! Thanks for sharing!

Amazing bird picture. I like it very much especially level of transparency and clearness of paints, great DOF and sharpness of the main subject and skillful composition. BG is very nice, well illuminated and pleasantly blurred. Bravo and my best regards.
