[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Blue-tongued lizards are the largest members of the skink family (Scincidae). Skink lizards have overlapping scales that are usually smooth and contain small plates of bone. There are more than 300 species of skinks in Australia.
The Eastern Blue-tongue is silvery-grey with broad dark brown or blackish bands across the back and tail. Individuals on the coast usually have a black stripe between the eye and the ear which may extend along the side of the neck.

Hi Pierre, I've heard of these guys of course, but have yet to see one for myself. This is a very good shot of this skink. The detail and colour are very good. I'm surprised you got such good depth of field with an aperture of f3.4, but you have great clarity throughout. What really makes this shot good of course in the capture of that tongue. Your timing on this one was perfect.

Thanks, John
